Cleveland Browns Jerseys

KFFL.com has Romeo Right at the Top of the Coaching Hot Seat

KFFL.com has come out with an article about coaches being Romeo on the hot seat?on the hot seat for 2007, and sure enough, second on the list is Browns head coach Romeo Crennel.  There is no question that Romeo has got to get things going in the right direction in 2007, and that the team is going to go the distance for him.  Below are the comments made by the site in regard to Romeo and where he stands as the 2007 season gets closer.

Romeo Crennel, Cleveland Browns (2006 record: 4-12)

A highly regarded assistant from his days with the New England Patriots, Crennel has failed to turn around the Browns in two seasons at the helm, going 6-10 in 2005 and dropping to 4-12 last season. The offense has been among the league’s worst both seasons, while the defense fell from a top 15 team in 2005 to the bottom third in 2006.

The Browns have been big players in free agency the last few years, but it has yet to pay dividends on the field. The Browns once again tried to patch their offensive line in the offseason, signing guard Eric Steinbach (Cincinnati Bengals) and center Seth McKinney (Miami Dolphins) while drafting University of Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas third overall. Crennel’s job security lies solely at the quarterback position. He might get a pass if rookie Brady Quinn (Notre Dame) ends up with the job, but in all, he needs someone to step up and point this team in the right direction. Otherwise, the team might go in another direction at the head coaching position.
