Browns head coach Romeo Crennel stated on Tuesday that he does not have a timetable set to name his starter for the opener vs the Steelers on Septemer 9th. He did say that the quarterback derby is down to two players, one being Charlie Frye and the other he failed to point out, but did not commit to it being Derek Anderson. Tuesday night’s practice saw Frye take snaps with the first team, followed by Anderson, Brady Quinn and Ken Dorsey. Tuesday was the last of the teams two-a-day practices.
Five players failed to take the field for practice Tuesday with injuries. Linebacker Andre Davis (ankle), cornerback Gary Baxter (knees), defensive lineman Simon Fraser (abscess), offensive lineman Fred Matua and fellow lineman Andrew Hoffman both sat with shoulder injuires. The Browns practice today as they get set for their third preseason game at Denver on Saturday night.
