War of Words Between Porter and Winslow Continues

The battles between Joey Porter and Kellen Winslow have been well documented over the past few meetings. The uniform for Porter has now changed, but the battle of words continues. Porter, now with Miami, will be in Cleveland for a matchup with the Browns Sunday. He has not had the same success with the 0-5 Dolphins as he had with the Steelers, who dominated the Browns with Porter there, but it has not shut Porter up when it comes to the Browns tight end. “He’s a receiver, really,” Porter said. “He’s not a tight end, because he’s not going to block anybody. If you ask me who’s going to win the Joey Porter-Kellen Winslow battle: Me.”

The two have gotten into it in the past, with shoving contests, as well as on the field shouting matches. Last season Porter slapped Kellen’s hand when a handshake was offered before the second Steelers-Browns game in December in Pittsburgh. Winslow used the best advantage he had when it came to firing back at Porter – the teams record. “I’m not into the individual-battle thing,” he said. “It’s a team thing. We’re 2-3 and they’re 0-5 and we’re looking for a win. He doesn’t have to worry about me. He should be worried about the team concept. They’re 0-5 right now.”

Porter, knowing the Dolphins are not very good, used the battles from the past in coming back at Winslow. “It really hasn’t been a war,” Porter said Wednesday. “It’s been one-sided. I’ve never lost to him. It’s like me picking on my little brother.” As usual, it will be Sunday when the two meet at Browns Stadium at 1pm.
