Expect Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow to go under the knife this off-season, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer; initially a first alternate to the Pro Bowl, Winslow had postponed the surgery in hopes of going to the game in Honolulu. But when San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates failed to opt-out of the game by Wednesday’s deadline, Winslow’s chances of going were erased.
In an interview with Mark “Munch” Bishop of WKNR, a Cleveland radio station, Winslow told Bishop, “I’m definitely going to have a surgery done on my knee. My shoulder might be strong enough . . . I’m just really worried about my knee. Your legs are your life. I need my knee.” The surgery in question is believed to be on the right knee, the one he injured in a 2005 motorcycle accident.
