Ex-Browns Safety Konz Dead At 79

Ex-Cleveland Browns safety Ken KonzKen Konz, the last living member of the secondary for the Cleveland Browns’ championship teams of the 1950s, died Tuesday due to complications from pneumonia; Konz still ranks fourth in franchise history with 30 career interceptions, and second  for interceptions returned for a touchdown with 4.  He was also a standout punt returner, once leading the NFL  with a 14.4-yard average in 1956.  His career in Cleveland started in 1953 and lasted until the 1959 season; in those 7 seasons, the Browns won 71% of their games and won 2 league championships.
