Browns Getting There as 08 Already on the Radar

As I stated in a previous letter of the Browns needs … get rid of Grantham (they did) … re sign Lewis (they did, to a 3 yr contract), and get rid of Anderson. They have not been able to sign Anderson, and Savage says they may not be able to. I checked out 7 or 8 sites the other day and every single one of them said that Anderson is over rated. Sure, he had a lot of TD passes, but he also had 19 interceptions (4th MOST in the NFL), and his completion percentage was down at the bottom of the list. DA needs to go for the good of Cleveland. Give Quinn the reigns, and bring in a back up with experience to tutor him.

Savage stated that the Browns were willing to give up their 1st round pick in 2009 for the right player. He said we would be willing to give up our #1 pick in 09 to get multiple players this year. DA becomes a restricted free agent at the end of the week. If DA doesn’t come to an agreement by Thursday, another team may be willing to give the Browns a 1st round pick for him. If another team gives Anderson an offer sheet and the Browns refuse to match, the team signing him has to give the Browns a 1st and 3rd round pick. I have been saying all along trade DA for a 1st and 3rd round pick. Another option is to sign DA and trade him.

Formal negotiations can’t take place until the 29th of this month. Let’s hope someone at the combines is wanting DA and willing to give up something of value to get him. If things keep going our way and falling into place, this could very well be our year to move into the playoffs and give someone a run for their money.
