In my opinion there’s good news on the Browns front. The Browns didn’t re sign Anderson. He refused to take their offer. The Brown’s did however tender DA a one year contract. If another team makes him an offer and the Browns don’t match it, they will be compensated a 1st and 3rd round pick. We don’t have a first round pick, via trading it to Dallas for the right to draft Quinn last draft, and we just traded away our 2nd round pick last night. That would then be a great situation for us if someone else signs Anderson.
The Browns made a trade last night, right after free agency opened. We traded our 2nd round pick for Corey Williams of the Packers. Williams is 6’4″, 320 pounds, who would play left DE in the 3-4 defense. He played DT in the Packers 4-3 scheme. Best known for his quickness at getting to the quarterback. He has had 14 sacks in the last 2 years. The Packers just tagged him their franchise player, but didn’t want to give him the multi year contract. Therefore, the deal states that the Browns must give him a multi year contract.
The Browns had 37 million in salary cap room before signing Williams but will save on spending, since Savage was planning on giving DA the 3 year contract. Savage is intent on shoring up the defense, and it’s looking like he’s going to get the job done this year. Browns in the playoffs in 2008? Does that sound great or what? GO BROWNS!!!
