The Browns signed defensive back Gary Baxter and fullback Charles Ali to one-year contracts on Thursday. Baxter sat out the entire 2007 after tearing tendons in both knees during a game on October 22, 2006. Ali joined the Browns as an undrafted free agent and played in 13 games last season, mostly on special teams.

Browns Look To Re-Sign Thompson
The Browns are believed to be close to re-signing linebacker Chaun Thompson. It’s believed the two sides could agree as soon as today on a two-year contract. Thompson, who was the Browns’ second-round pick in 2003, has become a key member of the special teams unit.
