The Browns want little to do with troubled players, so it came as little surprise today when the team announced they had cut backup defensive back Kenny Wright. The 30-year-old was arrested last month on marijuana possession charges after trying to outrun police in Texas.
The move was made on the second day of OTA’s, and it became apparent after Wright was not at the teams workout. Wright faces misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. Police in Pearland, Texas, said officers were investigating a disturbance in the police station parking lot around 11:30 a.m. on April 3. When officers approached Wright, he took off running and was eventually caught in a nearby subdivision.
He played in seven games last season for the Browns, with three tackles and one QB pressure.
