GM Phil Savage spoke this morning on NFL Radio about the teams current situation when it comes to the cornerback spot, and what they may or may not do. Savage said that he has been in contact with several teams about the CB spot and possible players that may or may not be available. Two players that have been brought up are both Ty Law and Lito Sheppard, but Savage said as far as salary is concerned, those players are likely out as they would not be able to afford either one.
More than likely Savage made mention about looking into a lesser player that has been around for 1-2 years that could be had for a low draft pick or a marginal player that long term does not fit the Browns plans. Don’t look for it to be a high impact name player, but a player that may be able to be a 3rd or 4th corner in the system to compliment Terry Cousin, who the team picked up last week. The team will also look at the waiver wire once players are let go, but as Savage said, they will be in the 20’s as far as the order goes, so getting a player with much talent will be tough as he will likely go to a team earlier on the wire.
