Quinn Quietly Expresses Desire to Start at QB
Posted by Matt Loede on June 24th, 2008 in News
For those of you that want a quarterback competition in Cleveland this summer, USA Today has an interesing quote from second-year QB Brady Quinn, who is being quiet, yet every once in awhile will take a shot at wanting to be the teams starter under center. “That has to be my mindset going in regardless what people may say because if I’m not preparing that way I’m doing our team an injustice,” said Quinn. Brady has been the good solider so far about not rocking the boat, but one has to wonder if Derek Anderson gets off to a slow start if Romeo Crennel is going to take a long look at the situation and possibly look at Quinn a bit more.

Matt, I fear your suggestion that Crennel would ever even consider replacing Anderson with Quinn is nothing more than wishful thinking. Crennel being ultra-biased towards starters and his lack of QB analysis skill (Anderson/Frye coin flip strategy)leads me to believe he will stay with Anderson til the bitter end in ‘08, unfortunately. Anderson cost the Browns the playoffs last year with his 4 INT’s in the Ciny game and Crennel never considered using Quinn. Unless Anderson gets hurt, Quinn will never get a chance and he will leave the team after this year by requesting a trade and Savage will oblige. Quinn has much better up-side, football smarts and intagibles than DA but the Browns will see him leave before the ‘09 season unfortunately.
