In what may go down in the “things I shouldn’t do” department, Browns Pro Bowl WR Brayon Edwards is healing today after having to get stiches in his foot due to a deep cut. The incident that caused the cut took place Saturday when Braylon was running a sprint in his socks when fellow receiver Donte’ Stallworth stepped on the back of his foot and opened a cut that required stiching up.
Edwards had to spend the night at the Cleveland Clinic. He was released Sunday afternoon, and coach Romeo Crennel said that it does not appear that the injury is going to be a long term problem. “Everything is pretty well fine other than the fact he has stitches,” Crennel said. “He was in good spirits last night when I spoke with him and he’s anxious to get back.” Edwards and pal Stallworth were running a sprint when Braylon slowed up and then got his foot stepped on.
Edwards caught 80 passes for 1,289 yards and a franchise-record 16 touchdowns last season.
