Time to Make Some Cuts as Browns Fall to Bears 16-10

Both the offensive and defensive starters looked pretty good tonight. Browns took the opening KO and drove 76 yards to a FG. Quinn didn’t go deep but moved the ball. Harrison and Wright both looked good in Lewis’ absence. Quinn did miss the chance for a TD when he threw behind Winslow in the end zone. McDonald intercepted a Bears pass and the Browns were on the move again. Wright, Harrison and Quinn looked good again, and moved down the field. From the 1, Quinn faked a hand off up the middle and flipped the ball to Harrison, who took it left into the end zone.

Now the hard knocks start rolling in. Wilson, who had some good catches dropped a long pass right in his hands, while streaking down the right sideline all alone. Browns are also 0 for 4 on 3rd downs. Second team def backfield not looking good. Neither is the KO coverage team, who has been giving up some pretty long returns. 10-10 at the half. The Browns had 0 penalties for 0 yards in the 1st half! ! !

Adrian Peterson and Grossman are eating the Browns up in the 2nd half. Sowells had a holding call and an illegal procedure call on consecutive plays. Leggett and Wilson have dropped passes they both should have had. When you’re trying to make a team you need to catch passes thrown your way. This team is “self destructing”. There is also no way we should be having all the injuries we’re getting unless the guys are not in shape. I’m still thinking Crennel doesn’t work the guys hard enough. I don’t think it should be to hard to find some players to cut. You don’t catch the ball, you don’t make the team. You don’t finish a tackle, you don’t make the team. You miss assignments constantly, you don’t make the team.

Hubbard just dropped a TD pass right in his hands, and he was open. Are these guys afraid of the ball? With 2:30 left in the game, Dorsey threw 10 yards short of a wide open receiver that was intercepted. That’s why he’s a third stringer.

16-10 Bears over the Browns. This is not the Browns I remember. Crennel better get it together. The Browns have the talent to get to the playoffs and possibly go the distance. Will they? After seeing the poor showings this entire pre season, I would have to say no.

I have always been and will always be a “die hard” Browns fan. I remember sitting in the 4th row, 45 yard line, on the Browns side of the field at the old Municipal Stadium, watching Jim Brown blast through defenses. I remember being one of ten youth who won a Plain Dealer contest during the 70-71 season, and got to go to Hiram College for Browns training camp, eating in the dining room with the players, going out to the field and watching practice while standing on the sideline, playing catch with the players, getting autographs and pictures of the players.

I remember the Kardiac Kids era, the Kosar vs Elway era. Personally I never understood why Cleveland would give the Indians and the Cavaliers teams new stadiums, when the world knows this is a football town. When the Tribe and Cavs are winning, they have the best fans in the world. Whether the Browns are winning or “losing” they have the best fans in the world. But the city wouldn’t build the Browns a stadium? Did you miss the Browns when they were in Baltimore? I know I did. But, since they have been back they have nothing to show for it.

This could very well be the year. But there are some changes that will need to take place. Like get out there and play football !!! Make the right cuts (which shouldn’t be too hard), get the players healthy in the nest 10 days, play solid football. That should get us to the playoffs. GO BROWNS ! ! !
