Oh My Gawd!! The Browns are Back; 35-14 Over Giants

First of all, Stallworth showed up tonight. Although the Browns had many strikes against them, such as, DA has the lowest completion % and QB rating of all NFL starters. The Browns are also the 2nd most penalized team in the NFL.

The game started off with DA fumbling a snap from center but he recovered it himself. They take the ball down the field with Lewis having a good first series, but settle for a Dawson FG. Pool intercepts a pass as the Giants were ready to score and returns it 23 yards.

Browns are shooting themselves in the foot though. They have had 5 illegal procedure penalties and an illegal hands to the face on Adams on a play when Rodgers forced a Manning fumble. DA has thrown behind the receivers 3 times so far. Then Dawson misses a 51 yard FG. Giants then take the ball down the field for a TD. Things look up when DA hits Edwards for a 70 yard completion to the NY 4 yd line.

The pass would have been a TD but Edwards had to slow down and reach back a bit for the ball. Next time the Browns get the ball they take it down the field and score on a Lewis 4 yard TD run. With the Browns up 10-7, DA hits Dinkins for a 23 yard TD pass. Then comes the implosion. As Rogers hits Manning and forces a fumble, Adams gets flagged for illegal hands to the face. Giants get the ball back with 5 yards tacked on. They take it in for a TD and trail the Browns 17-14 at the half.

McDonald intercepts Manning on their first series of the 2nd half. Harrison runs 33 yards on a hand off/ reverse, and they get another FG. Browns hold on defense as Hall gets a sack on the last play of the series. 2 more illegal procedure calls on the Browns in their next series. That makes 7 for the game. Dinkins drops 2 passes he should have had during this series. Offensive line has protected DA all night.

He really hasn’t even had any pressure on him. Then he throws an 11 yard TD pass to Edwards. Next NY series Eric Wright intercepts Manning and returns it 94 yards for a TD. DA then passes to Edwards for the 2 point conversion. NY gets down to the Browns 3 and the Browns hold on 4th down and take over. Lewis continues to run the ball, using up the clock. 35-14 the Browns dominate the Giants.

Highlights go as follows. DA was 18/29 2TD’s 0 int, Lewis ran 21 times for 88 yards and a TD, Edwards had 5 catches for 154 yards with 1 TD and a 70 yard catch, Harrison ran twice for 41 yards. On the defensive side of the ball … they had 3 interceptions and 1 sack. Only problem was they couldn’t stop the run most of the time. 454 total yards, 310 via pass. Penalties were a problem again. We had 10 penalties and 2 were declined. Here is my favorite stat of the game.

THE BROWNS HAD “ZERO” PUNTS !!!! DA obviously woke up. The whole team woke up. Let’s keep it going.

Let’s hope this is a sign of the Browns we will see in the coming weeks, and also hope this is NOT a coming sign of the Giants, who play the Steelers in 2 weeks.

Great effort. I can only imagine what would have happened if we they would stop shooting themselves in the foot with preventable penalties.
