Winslow Returns to the Browns

Tight end Kellen Winslow was back with the Browns on Thursday, but as far as what the illness was that landed him in the Cleveland Clinic for three days, it’s not being talked about.  Winslow was indoors for the 30 minutes that the media could watch the outdoor practice, and it’s still being said that he’s 50-50 to play Sunday against the Redskins in Washington.

“He’s a tremendous player and competitor and he makes plays,” coach Crennel said of Winslow. “I know defenses hate to see him out there because they have to decide how they’re going to handle him, who they’re going to put on him, if they need to double him or not. I think defenses rather he not be there.  We want him back.”

Crennel did say that Winslow could take the field on Friday, and if he does, that will go a long way in him being with the team and even playing on Sunday.  If he doesn’t, Steve Heiden would get his second straight start, and Darnell Dinkins, who caught a 22-yard score vs the Giants Monday night, would again be the backup.
