After it’s All Said and Done; Who Do you Side With – Browns or Winslow

It is starting to get ugly in the Browns locker room these days, and things between TE Kellen Winslow and the team may only get worse before they get better.  If you haven’t been following, it’s been confirmed that the reason why Winslow spent three days in the Clinic last week was due to (stop if you haven’t heard this before) a staph infection.

Then after reportedly not getting a visit or call from GM Phil Savage, Winslow took to the media after the Skins loss and said that he feels like “a piece of meat,” and that he even considered asking for a trade last week.  Now, with 10 games left in the season and the team at 2-4, the team can either implode or find a way to get past this and get better.  Which way do you think they will go?

It feels like it may be the first, and what took place yesterday and today with Romeo Crennel taking to the media to saying that Winslow shouldn’t have spoken out, it seems that another loss Sunday in Jacksonville could result in this team turning from a one-time playoff contender to a team that by the end of the year may be playing out the stretch for a top 10 draft pick.

Winslow is a good tight end, and he does deserve to have some love from the team that drafted him.  Sure he has made mistakes, but for the team to hide a staph infection for their own good is a little above and beyond.  They should have come come out and told the truth.  Instead, they tried to hide it, and there were some pretty outlandish rumors about exactly what was going on with Winslow.

Maybe in the end the TE will get his wish and get moved during the offseason.  For now, he’d better kiss and makeup with the team.  Otherwise, this 08 season could get a lot worse before it gets better.

Ya know, I’m not a Winslow fan. Never was. He ran his mouth as a rookie, sat his entire second season because he was being stupid on a motorcycle, and half the time you never know if he’s going to play. Now he’s whining that nobody came to visit? Dude, man up.

Frankly, he has decent numbers receiving but he misses blocks and I don’t think his reputation has squared with reality. Maybe he needs to move to a slot receiver position where he can concentrate on his preference, catching passes. I’m more at ease when Heiden’s playing TE.
