Browns Rescind Winslow Suspension; TE Still Won’t Play Sunday

Winslow

The ongoing battle between the Browns and tight end Kellen Winslow is over, as the team Satruday night came to terms with the TE to rescind his one-game suspension. Despite that, Winslow will not play in Sunday’s showdown with the Jaguars in Jacksonville, as he didn’t even travel to Florida with the team.

Winslow will be inactive for the game, but will get his game check that will pay him $235,294. He will be fined $25,000 according to two sources. The team released the following statement: “The Cleveland Browns are pleased to have this matter behind us. We have worked through our differences and look forward to having Kellen return.”

The TE made comments against the club after the team lost to the Redskins 14-11 last Sunday in Washington. Winlsow confirmed that the reason he spent three days the week before in the Cleveland Clinic was due to a staph infection. The Browns had tried to keep the infection a secret, as they didn’t want the pub that would follow due to the team having a number of players with it over the past two years.

Because of the settlement between the two sides, there will be no appeal hearing on Tuesday.
