Crennel Says Quinn the Starter in 09

Not that he’ll likely have the decision next year anyway as he’ll probably be fired at the end of the year, but Romeo Crennel gave an interesting quote today about the QB spot, and what may happen next year (should he be the coach). Crennel basically said that Brady Quinn would be the teams starter in 2009, no matter what. “I had planned to go with Brady as the quarterback,” Crennel said. “When he comes back, he’s going to be healthy and he’s going to be the quarterback. Quinn is the starter next training camp.” And what if Derek Anderson goes 5-0 in the last five weeks and lights it up? Then what would Crennel do?

They need to fire more than Crennel. I agree that he has to be the first to go though. Chudzinski needs to go too, along with Tucker and Myslinski. I don’t blame Savage for this garbage. He fielded a team that definately has the talent to get to the playoffs. They need to also get rid of Edwards and Winslow, since neither one wants to be here. It shows in their play and dedication.
I don’t really care if DA has a great last 5 weeks. He has proven to be way too inconsistent. Just give him a chance to choke and he’ll take it. Get Quinn healthy and give him the reigns. Use Harrison alot more. Heiden may not have the flash of Winslow but his hands are just as good and he actually blocks. Hopefully Rucker will be ready next year and can play as well as Winslow. The defensive backfield has not matured this year. They have gotten worse since the season started. Trade them all to Detroit so Bodden will have some old buddies to pal around with. Maybe keep Wright and Jones.
Crennel “can not” motivate at all, Chudzinski has lost all of his creativity (hence running Lewis up the middle on 3rd and 15 constantly), Tucker “can not” create any kind of pass rush, and look at all the injuries this year. Do you think if Myslinski would have had these players in shape, things may have been different? I do!!
If Tucker can’t generate some pass rush, the oppossing QB will pick apart any defensive backfield. I have given up on the Browns this year. There is a difference between being a true fan and a ignorant fan. Like I asked before, what has any Cleveland franchise given us since 1964? Secong place isn’t good enough. We “NEED” a winner in NE Ohio again!!
