Rumors Fly That Shaun Smith Punches Brady Quinn

From: Waiting for Next Year.com

With this story from WKYC’s Jim Donovan, it appears that the final wheel has fallen off of the Browns 2008 season:

…Defensive lineman Shaun Smith hit quarterback Brady Quinn.  It is still unclear if the hit was a sucker punch or with a weight.  Many media sources in town are trying to track down the full story.

I also find this tidbit interesting…

It must be noted that Smith was rumored to be the supposedly unnamed player who quit on the Browns in their loss against the Denver Broncos that Jamal Lewis and Joshua Cribbs were talking about.  Smith has denied that allegation.

Not the greatest news for this team, let alone a guy who frequently represents said team on STO’s Browns football program.  I’m willing to bet that he Smith doesn’t touch on this in his blog before the cat comes out of the proverbial media bag.  If anyone’s keeping an official list of players not likely to be back next season, feel free to add Smith.

    Great,
Just what we need, players going after players. Just goes to show how truely our Browns have become. Way to go Brownies, thanks for the memories this year, I can’t wait to see how far we can fall next year.

Too bad that the Browns defense would not be as aggressive against the Steelers.

The same type of guys that would smack a QB on their own team would probably lay down cry when faced even up with a lineman from the Steelers.
