Browns Hire Gary Brown as New Running back Coach

The Browns have made another hire for Eric Mangini’s staff, as former Oilers back Gary Brown is coming to the team to be the new running backs coach. Here is the report from today’s Star-Ledger on the hire:

Rutgers will be in the market for another assistant after running backs coach Gary Brown left the staff to take a similar position with the Cleveland Browns, head coach Greg Schiano said Saturday. Brown, a former Penn State standout who played eight years in the NFL, served one year on the Rutgers staff before being hired away by new Browns coach Eric Mangini. Schiano said he wasn’t surprised by the move, saying “it’s part of the business,” and indicated he would try to fill the position before the start of spring practice on March 10. “Gary had a great NFL career and when we first talked (when Brown came to Rutgers), he said one of his goals was to be a coach in the NFL,” Schiano said. “I knew it would happen. I just didn’t know it would be this quickly.”
