Browns Ink Former Jets CB Hank Poteat

The Browns have signed another former Jet, as the team has announced the signing cornerback Hank Poteat.
“Hank is a veteran corner who has played inside and outside,” said Browns general manager George Kokinis. “His versatility and knowledge of the system will be an asset to our secondary.”

Poteat, 31, played 13 games for the Jets last season, compiling 41 tackles, two interceptions and a sack. A third-round pick by Pittsburgh in the 2000 NFL Draft, Poteat had stints with Pittsburgh (2000-02), Tampa Bay (2003), New England (2004-06), and the Jets (2006-08).

i think this is a good signing! the guy can make plays when it counts and potentially help you win games! i think he will play the nickle in our cornerback trio. i think he will upgrade cousins and daniels by far. way to go mangini and kokinis

Yeah, another Jet reject! Does it tell anyone anything that a defensive Wiz such as Rex Ryan let this clown go? Must be for a reason or he would have kept him for his team.

We continue to pick up Jet castoffs that are being let go for a reason. But what do we expect, something new? We have not had a team since the Ravens left Cleveland. I mean the flipping Arizona Cardinals made the Super Bowl for Pete’s sake!

I continue to try to be optimistic but not about this signing. The guy has been cut by every team he has played for. He has almost never been a starter. And he’s no spring chicken. He might add some leadership in the locker room but not much to the secondary, in my opinion.
