Browns to Talk to WR Britt the Night Before the Draft

The Browns seem dead set on moving Braylon Edwards, and with that they are going to have to rebuild the WR core. One player that they are going to look at come next week is Rutgers WR Kenny Britt, who is expected to be a first-round pick in next Saturday’s draft.

The interesting thing about the Browns looking at Britt is that they are going to talk to him on Friday, just one day before the draft. Maybe they think they can grab Britt with the No. 36 overall pick, but that could be a stretch. Or is there another thought that they are going to move some players (Edwards and Quinn) and then have multiple early picks.

I very much doubt that the Browns would select Britt number five overall, so that is not why they are meeting with him. I suspect that the meeting is to check another option if Edwards is traded to the Giants the evening before or the morning of Day one of the Draft. One of the picks that the Browns get in return could be used on Britt because Crabtree will be gone by the time that we get to use one of those picks. I can tell you one thing (and this coming from someone that tries to be as optimistic as possible), if the Browns select Britt with the number five overall pick (because Crabtree will be gone at number four to the Seahawks), then I will be seriously pissed! Crabtree is not worth the number five selection, never mind Britt. We get Orakpo at number five (Curry will be a Chief at number three and Crabtree a Seahawk at number four). That suits me just fine.
