Latest Rumor – Edwards to the Jets for RB Jones

The latest Braylon Edwards rumor has him going to the New York Jets, who need a top notch wide receiver, for running back Thomas Jones. The rumor has been bantered about today on various national talk shows, including Sirius NFL Radio, who said that if it went down, it would probably be Jones and a pick for Edwards.

No matter, it seems that the Edwards rumors are simply not going to die, and as usual, where’s there’s smoke – there’s fire, and you have to think that somehow, someway, Edwards is going to be moved. The Jets want a good wide out for new QB Mark Sanchez badly, and seem to be willing to part with a solid back like Jones to do it.

In getting Jones, he could come in right away and be a starter, or combine with Jamal Lewis and have a very good 1-2 punch for the Browns backfield. Would you do it? The Browns seem to have some interest, so we shall see if it happens.

I would do it in a heartbeat.

Edwards is a squeamish receiver with bad hands and an attitude that needs to be purged from the team. Defenses know he’s afraid to go over the middle which makes our offense easier to defend. He’ll be a bad influence on Massaquoi & Robiskie – just what those young kids don’t need.

In comparison to past Cleveland top receivers he pales in comparison. From Collins & Warfield, to Slaughter to Reggie Rucker, to Reggie Langhorne etc.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out Braylon.

I would do it also, but I would insist on Jones and an early round Draft pick in 2010 – I think the Jets would bite on that. Jones is an impressive guy with a 4 yard per rush career average and only 22 career fumbles compared to nearly 2000 yards. He had 13 TDs last year. He could take pressure off Jamal. We could have the Big Blue Machine in Brown jerseys with Lewis, Jones and Harrison.

it would be quite the deal but I doubt it, no sources once again Matt……..not to an AFC team use your common sense

  4. Logan says:

why would the jets give him up when they have nobody to replace him with……..common sense its crap the media cooks up to fill the spaces in-between the adds on their newspapers and websites.

The truth is easy to see when confronted with it. I totally agree. But the media has so much time on their hands they are creating stories to make up for bad relationships and not getting any trust from any brass, so I’ll wait and see. Like i said, if they get what we gave up for him, fine. otherwise, keep him until next year, tag him, and get some value. He’s got to catch some balls if he wants anything but an incentive contract.

The jets just drafted shonn greene and they still have washington trading jones would be smart for both teams .. jets having 2 other running backs and one being a rookie will give him an oportunity and the browns do have a running back problem. Also the jets do need a reciever besides cotchery and stuckey
