Browns Sign Fourth-Round Pick LB Kaluka Maiava
Rookies are due to report to Berea today for training camp, and while the big guys (Alex Mack, Brian Robiske) are not in yet, the team has come to terms with 4th round pick LB Kaluka Maiava. Here’s the presser the Browns sent out on the deal:
The Cleveland Browns today signed linebacker Kaluka Maiava, the team announced. Maiava was the Browns’ fourth round pick (104th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Maiava missed just one game during his four-year career at USC (2005-08). He was a second-team All-Pac 10 selection as a senior when he notched 66 tackles, eight stops for loss and an interception. For his career he amassed 164 tackles, 15.5 stops for loss and two interceptions. Maiava is a native of Wailuku, Hawaii where he attended Baldwin High School.

This is good. Maybe this 4th rounder will turn out to be the sleeper everyone believed Leon Williams was. But, he has a lot more playing time in college than Williams did, so let’s . . . well, not hope with this team . . . let’s see what happens.

This guy trully is a playmaker, he’s justing waiting for an oppurtunity to shine. He will be the Brown’s most reliable defensive player for years to come!
