Browns Dr. Charles Drew Blood Drive Set For August 1st

The Cleveland Browns are once again teaming up with the American Red Cross and American Sickle Cell Anemia Association (ASCAA) to host the 9th Annual Dr. Charles Drew Blood Drive.

The blood drive is scheduled for Saturday, August 1 from 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., located at the Browns Training Camp in Berea at Baldwin-Wallace College, behind the Kleist Center for Art and Drama. Browns fans are encouraged to come out and donate blood to help boost the local supply.

The blood drive will be held simultaneously at 15 sites in Northeast Ohio, with guest appearances by Browns alumni at select locations. For other participating sites, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit www.RedCrossDonor.org. All registered donors will receive a free Browns T-shirt, a voucher for a buy one ticket, get one free for the Browns preseason game against Detroit on August 22 at Cleveland Browns Stadium, and be entered into a raffle for a chance to win Browns collectibles.

The blood drive comes at a critical time for the Red Cross as local blood supplies typically reach low levels during the summer months. During the 2008 drive, the 15 sites collected 885 productive pints which helps up to 2,655 patients.
