Safety Elam Blogs on the Start of Camp

Training camp is going real well, and I’m just glad to be back playing football in Northeast Ohio again. Being out there running around with a bunch of new teammates, guys who love the work, it’s definitely a blessing and I’m enjoying each and every day.

It’s Coach Mangini’s training camp so it’s going to be tough, but the weather’s been good. All the training I did in Florida is really helping out now. I was training at 6 a.m. there and it was 85-90 degrees and steamy. Here it’s high 70s, 80. Nice.

We’re staying in a hotel right down the street from the facility. I get a room to myself, that’s the nice thing about being a veteran.

It’s great to be back with the guys getting ready for this long journey together. The camaraderie has been great, everyone is eager to work to get better every day and every practice has been competitive.

I spent the day at the Training complex yesterday watching the full practice for more than 2 hours. I can say one thing for sure: the level of intensity and discipline on the field is immediately recognizable. Hopefully, that turns into results come September.
