The word is receiver Donte Stallworth met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Wednesday in hopes of being re-instated, a league source confirmed. No decision was made in regards to the suspension of Stallworth by the NFL.
“We do not comment on the details of the review process, so we decline to comment on the report of [Wednesday’s] meeting,” league spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an email response to the PD. “When there is a decision, we will announce. It will not be [Wednesday].”
Coach Eric Mangini said little about Stallworth as well. “I have no knowledge of that and really at this point it is a league matter, so I couldn’t really elaborate anymore,” Mangini said.
When asked if he’d be welcome to Browns camp if allowed, Mangini seemed to seal the wide outs fate: “Like I said, once the league makes whatever decision they are going to make, then we’ll address it at that point.” Sounds like the coach isn’t interested in having Stallworth anywhere near this club at this time.
