Roster cuts are looming for the Browns, and the big rumor spreading is the possible release of workhorse back Jamal Lewis:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter placed Jamal Lewis atop his list of big-name veterans on the roster bubble. Thus far, all the calls for Lewis’ release are merely speculation, but Lewis’ agent even admits even admits he doesn’t know what’s coming next. “We’ll wait and see like everyone else,” the player rep said. The Browns paid Lewis a $3.5M roster bonus in March, and they have zero depth behind James Davis and Jerome Harrison. Whether he’s on the chopping block or not, avoid Lewis entirely in upcoming drafts.

I find it hard to believe that Lewis would be shown the door, as the team simply doesn’t have the depth behind him to be able to run the ball, and even though James Davis has looked good in preseason, it’ll be a whole new ball game come September 13th vs the Vikings.
