The team also terminated the contracts of: DB Hamza Abdullah, RB Noah Herron, DB Corey Ivy, WR David Patten, and TE Aaron Walker. the team reached an injury settlement with DL Melila Purcell, who had been on the club’s injured reserve list.

So, they are carrying one FB. The only way this makes any sense to me is that Jamal will be doing more lead blocking in two back sets when Vickers is off the field. A couple of undrafted rooks make this team while Hubbard and Bell are cut. Rucker is a TE, but really a slot back. And, there is one roster spot left. OK. So, here we go. Let’s see what happens.
I don’t have a problem with any of these cuts. The only surprise for me was Patten as I had heard he was a Mangini trooper. Noah was disposable as soon as it looked like Harrison would get healthy and Davis played so well in the preseason. I am pleased that Marcus Benard made the squad – he worked hard and played solid; he could turn into a decent pass rusher.
