Count Down to Prime Time

Alright fans, the real thing is upon us. I know there’s some fans that think we’ll go 10-6 and some are thinking more like 4-12. I’m going 8-8. Mangini has not proven a thing to me yet and hasn’t earned my trust. Kind of like Obama.

So I’ll call him the “Obama of the Browns”. The team has made it’s final cuts and we’re down to the limit now. There are a few I would disagree with but I’m just a fan. Ratliff over Bartel is the biggest one. Ratliff looked real confused and lost out there.

Bartel was confident and pretty much dead on the money with his passes. Jennings is really the only other player I would have liked to see stay, and they signed him to the practice squad. He still may make it to the team. Schafering had 2 sacks the other night, so you can’t completely overlook him. Practice squad also.

Quinn will be the starter. I wish they would have traded DA for some value earlier, like right after the 07 season. Harrison and Davis should put some excitement into our ground game. I am totally at a loss with Lewis. Unless he was literally holding back to save energy, I saw nothing impressive in pre season. Edwards learned how to catch so that’s a big plus in itself.

Furrey looked like Mr Clutch out there, catching everything thrown his way. Massaquoi and Robiskie looked good too. Our receiving corps should be fine along with Heiden, Royal and Rucker at TE. Offensive line is a bunch of big tough guys out there. If they play together, they should handle any D line.

D line looks good on paper but haven’t all played together yet. Haven’t found out why Rogers didn’t play in pre season yet. They should be tough with Rogers, Mosley and Coleman starting. Rubin looked good too in pre season. The Browns knew how lazy Williams was when they signed him. There has been talk of trading him.

Why hasn’t there been a move in this direction? I like the LB group. Wimbley should get it together this year. D’Qwell, Barton, Bowens should round out the starters. Veikune and Maiava both looked tough so they should keep the pressure on the starters. In the defensive backfield, Wright, McDonald, Pool are set as starters. I think Coye had a more productive pre season than any of the other veterans.

Zastudil and Dawson are set at punter and kicker. Cribbs is one of the top 2 KO returners in football and Lawson could give a little change too. OK, Coach Obama, you’ve got some talent here. Let’s see what you do with it. GO BROWNS! ! !

I say a record between 7-9 and 9-7. The game against the Vikings will be close; decided by 7 points or less. The real key, though, is whether we can run the football. If not, we’re toast because Brady cannot compete with the tandem of Peterson and Favre. If we run for more than 100 yards, we have a decent shot. Go Davis!
