Week 2 Approaching

Here we go. Week 2 is upon us and we fans are still confused and wondering what’s going on. We, the loyal, dedicated Browns fans are fed up with nothing in return for being true fans. 11 years since we’ve returned to our town, and what do we have to show for it? Not a thing!! From what the players say, Lerner is one of the most generous owners in the NFL.

Being generous doesn’t win football games though. I read an article in the Akron Beacon Journal this morning, stating that seats in Denver go for either $115 or $135. In Cleveland they’re still $50 for the same seats. To me, that’s impressive and shows me that Lerner is not as money hungry as some owners, but then again, we don’t have the big salary players that some teams have. But I will tell you what Mr Lerner. If you put a contender in Cleveland Browns Stadium, we wouldn’t complain about ticket prices as much. The $25 parking maybe, but not the tickets.

In the 1st 50 years of the Browns existence we had 8 head coaches. Dick Modzelewski coached for 1 game, Jim Shofner lasted 7 games (as a replacement for Bud Carson). So, that’s 8 “full time” head coaches. That’s an average of 6.25 years per coach. Since the rebirth, 11 years ago, Mangini makes our 4th head coach. Robiskie lasted 5 games. So excluding this year. Our 1st 10 years back we had 3 time head coaches. That comes out to 15 head coaches in our second 50 years. That averages 3.33 years per coach. What’s going on?

That’s only half the time the coaches stayed in the first 50 years. Do the head coaches know less about football now days? I’m questioning the owners’ selection process for coaches. Chris Palmer, Butch Davis and Romeo Crennell? Where did you find these nobody’s? I think you should have hired Schottenheimer back personally. He had a .620 winning percentage which is 3rd on the Browns list of coaches with the best winning percentages. Since Brown and Collier are both deceased and Marty is still around.

Not many Browns are among the leaders in stats after week 1. There are a few though. Lewis is 7th in rushing yds for the AFC with 57. Dawson is first (T) in points for kickers with 8 and 4th in overall scoring. Browns as a team were tied for first in sacks with 4 and they lead the AFC in punt return average. So we have solid special teams after one game. That’s something to build on, so let’s get it all together and roll over the “hated” Broncos. GO BROWNS!!!

It’s like the movie groundhog day! Bottom line is as long as 70,000+ people show up thinking things are going to be different (THEY WON”T BE), Lerner won’t do any major shakeups. He and Mike Brown (Bungles) must be related!
