More Bad News; Lewis and Dawson Both Ruled Out for Sunday

Browns Camp Football
The task of beating the Ravens in Baltimore for the Browns was tough enough heading into Sunday. Now, the team is going to have an even tougher time, as some of their key players on offense will be in street clothes watching due to injuries.

Running back Jamal Lewis and long-time kicker Phil Dawson will both miss the Ravens game due to injuries that will leave the team even more short-handed. Lewis is out with a hamstring injury that kept him out of practice all week and Dawson is out with an injured right calf.

Also missing will be offensive linemen Floyd Womack (ankle) and Rex Hadnot (knee). To take Dawson’s place, the team inked former Cowboys kicker Billy Cundiff. He was with Dallas for four seasons, one in New Orleans. He was released by Detroit on September 5th.

In 58 career regular-season games, Cundiff has made 60 of 83 field goal attempts and 100 of 101 PATs.

With Lewis out, the job of trying to rush the ball will go to rookie running back James Davis, and also look for Jerome Harrison to get carries. Davis missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury and Harrison was out of the season opener against Minnesota.

Hank Fraley will start in Womack’s place at right guard. The Browns also waived running back Cedric Peerman.
