Simply Awful; Browns Punished by Ravens 34-3

This game was essentially over at halftime, as the Browns were kept out of the end zone for the second straight week. The Ravens moved the ball with ease against the Browns’ defense, scoring on every first half possession. Defensively, Baltimore stifled the Browns, barely allowing them to cross midfield in the first half. So bad was Brady Quinn, that he got the hook at halftime.

Derek Anderson did not fare much better against the fierce Ravens’ defense, throwing three picks of his own. His counterpart, Joe Flacco, had another huge day, and has to be considered a legitimate MVP candidate at this point. Running back Willis McGahee continues to find the end zone, punching it in two times in this contest, giving him six touchdowns on the season.

Things could not have started worse for Quinn, as he threw an interception on his team’s opening drive, giving the Ravens a short field. They would capitalize on the mistake with a McGahee 7 yard score. Baltimore’s defense would force three straight punts, while Flacco would lead the offense on scoring drives of 68, 82, and 80 yards, which drained a combined sixteen minutes off of the clock, and resulted in thirteen points. By the time the halftime whistle sounded, it was already 20-0 Baltimore, and Flacco had over 200 yards passing.

As mentioned earlier, Derek Anderson would replace Quinn in the second half, but the change did not pay off, as Anderson threw an interception on his very first drive. The Ravens would make Cleveland pay yet again, as this time Ray Rice would find the end zone for a score.

With the game out of reach, Anderson would still cost his team, throwing another two picks, the first of which led to a 72 yard touchdown pass from Flacco to Derrick Mason. From there on out, it was just a matter of Baltimore running off the final minutes to remain undefeated on the season.

Things could not be any worse in Cleveland, as their quarterback controversy has turned into a pick your poison situation. Not to mention, Eric Mangini has seemingly lost control of the locker room after reports surfaced of a fight breaking out earlier in the week as the result of an apparent rookie prank.

Their defense is completely awful, and there is a serious lack of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. As for the Ravens, they might just be the best team in all of football, and I am really looking forward to see how they fare against tougher competition.

I’m resubmiting this post from week 2 to inform the good people of Cleveland to not waste thier Sundays watching such a disaster of a football orginazation. From the days of Brian Sipe to the times of Bernie Kosar, The Browns have always and will always come up less than short every weekend for 16 weeks. They are headed to 0-16 season ladies and gentlemen. And unless the city of cleveland puts up a huge infusion of serious money into the cleveland browns franchise and are able to atrract a better coaching staff along with better football players, their will never be a Superbowl title for the Cleveland Browns and the good people of cleveland. They would probably have to auction of both the cleveland indians and Cavaliers to pony up that type of money, plus get rid of Lebron James, which will not happen no time soon. Here’s last week post.

    Week 2:

The Cleveland Browns do not deserve loyal fans!It seems to me that the Cleveland Browns orginazation is destine to never win a Superbowl, EVER! Both their offense and defense looks worse than garbage! and it looks like they traded one incompetent head coach for another. I guess fellow Clevelander’s should start looking towards Basketball season!
