Savage Takes a Shot at the Way Mangini is Running the Browns

The News-Herald reports about former GM Phil Savage, who is working at a local Burger King. Just kidding. Well, they really did talk about him, and of course Savage took a shot at the way things are going with the Browns:

Phil Savage, fired as the Browns’ general manager one day before the 2008 season ended, told an audience of Alabama football fans the regime that replaced him and Coach Romeo Crennel has torn apart the good he and Crennel did to build the Browns. Twenty-seven players are new to the roster built by Coach Eric Mangini and General Manager George Kokinis, including kicker Billy Cundiff, who has been on the team since Phil Dawson’s right calf was injured six weeks ago. “You don’t take a lot of solace in watching a place you leave go downhill further,” The Mobile Press Register quoted Savage saying Monday at a meeting of the Gulf Coast Athletic Club, in Gulf Shores, Ala. “But they took what we did have going there and they just dismantled that even further. We left two quarterbacks (Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn) behind that both seem ruined right now. They traded a lot of players out of there. I feel for the guys we brought in because they’re good players and good people, and they’re stuck in a situation and can’t get out for at least the time being.”
