I say we watch him after the next eight, and he to should show improvement or have the guy under him ready. If you can establish that the coaching was so abysmal that he did not have a chance, then a coaching change now might be just the trick to allow him to move forward without hearing (loud) whispers questioning his ability. Mangini has demonstrated his almost remarkable inability to realistically assess talent at a high level, so this line of logic has legs. Daboll has had a disappointing performance, to say the least. This year is a bust, anyway, so an interim coach (who has nothing to lose) and BQ (who has everything to gain)could be paired for 8 live-time games. So, why not? You want to play the younger skill position players now. Get them on film in live games. Tell them that is what you are doing -- and why. Make the season "lost" only as to record. Make it "found" by locating and defining a purpose -- a collective purpose. Something like: "We aren't going through this ever again. We suck and we have no excuses. A lot of us are not going to be here again -- but some of us will be. And we want to be. There are some guys around here that I want to play with. And we want this pain to have a purpose. Nothing worse than pointless pain." From this, a closer-knit group of players could emerge -- but it has to be done just right. And, as another possibility, I could be totally out there, too.
