I would seriously look at trading Rodgers from the perspective of the guy's too big to be doing what he does with h is body, and once it starts to break down it's going to get worse and worse. and as good as he seems, I hear over and over that he actually creats a problem pressuring the QB because he creates a seam that the backs can use to run past him. I would try putting him in with his replacement...I can't remember how to spell the name. But as much of a freak that he is, it is a good time to think about trading him.

Trading Rogers would be an option if we could get some high draft picks/immediate-impact players for him. Otherwise, hang onto him and sign him to an extension. Then, put Rubin at NT with Williams and Rogers on the ends. Plug the middle and collapse the edges. Rogers' speed could be a huge factor from the edge and Rubin plugs the middle well.

Next year is next year. Remember the crash-and-burn season of 2008? There were 23 new faces at the beginning of this season; there will be at least that next season. Mid-season additions Matt Roth and Evan Moore have shown that there may be a bit more of a core here than existed on Sept. 3. Rogers, Wimbley, Jackson, Roth, Bowens, Smith -- maybe Wright -- are all serviceable if not more at their positions. Rubin can play, as can Williams. Left side of the OL and Mack, MoMass, Furrey, Moore, at least 2 of the existing RBs, Vickers, BQ remain in the offense. This means draft priorities on D are every position -- with early round emphasis, I should think, on front-7. Offense is RB (early mid-round), WR, right side of the line (early mid-round). Defense needs playmakers in the box. Get it one or two. If you can pressure the QB with an LB, then Rogers becomes that much more of a weapon --as does Williams in a 4-3 -- and the DBs might be quite serviceable - see, Pittsburgh at Cleveland.
