Browns Pickup DL Adams, OL Kooistra Off Waivers

The Browns today were awarded defensive lineman Titus Adams off waivers from New England, the team announced. In addition, the team waived offensive lineman Scott Kooistra.

Originally drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round (220th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft, Adams spent the first 13 weeks of 2006 on the Jets’ practice squad before being signed to the New York Giants’ active roster on December 6. After being released by the Giants on August 17, 2007, he spent time with both the San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals before being signed by the Patriots on July 24, 2008. He spent all of 2008 and the first 13 weeks of this season on the Patriots’ practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on December 9. He saw action in two contests, posting three tackles, while being inactive for one other.

A four-year letterman at the University of Nebraska (2002-05), Adams appeared in 48 games with 21 starts, totaling 134 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three passes defensed and two interceptions. Born on January 28, 1983, the 6-4, 305-pound Adams is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended Creighton High School.

He will wear uniform number 62.
