Mangini Happy for His Old Team

A post that I posted earlier in the week asking ,Does Mangini deserve some credit for this Jets team? A New York Daily News reporter Gary Myers talked to Mangini about the recent Jet success. “I do take a lot of pride in how they are doing,” Mangini said. “Not just in how they are playing, but the type of people they are. That locker room is loaded with good guys. I am happy with their success. I feel I contributed to it.” Mangini has once again proved that he can help build a winner if you just give him time. The Jets are pretty much all made up of Mangini guys in that locker room. Cleveland Browns stadium has some good days to come. Go Browns!!!!

No question that the current incarnation of the Jets is the product of years of prior work — as well as some trades with teams like, well, Cleveland. And, Mangini was there doing that work. So, while the issue of what value that work is to this year’s team, there is no issue that Mangini’s fingerprints are all over that franchise. Mangini could be NYs Belichek, after all. We hate him here, but the NFL and the Pats love him — esp. those rings he has gracing his fingers. So, cut Mangini some slack. I’m not gonna marry the guy and he’s not gonna be in my family or anything. Let him work a little. There are now good people around who have been pretty decent at assessing and developing talent — on the field and in the offices. They say he’s OK. For now, that’s good enough for me.
