Holmgren Doesn’t See D.A and Quinn Both Being Here

Mike Holmgren said today on the Dan Patrick show that he doesn’t believe in a competition at the quarterback position during camp. He was quoted saying “They’re both here right now. We’ll see how it goes. I’m not a big believer in that competition stuff. We better make up our mind before we go to camp and then put our resources into one guy.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if both guys were gone even though they are still here today. D.A. will receive a pretty hefty signing bonus in March, which I don’t think the Browns will pay, and Brady Quinn hasn’t shown much of anything when he was the starting quarterback in parts of the 08 and 09 seasons.

Neither does about a mmillion BQ fans….DA is gone. History. of course, that’s IMHO…

I think Holmy is smart enough to see the good potential in BQ, and will have a plan to develope that. Like I say, If he doesn’t for some reason, after they build the team around him they will plug in a qb of there choice to replace him.
Anybody else wonder about the possibility of Kurt Warner coming here as a mentor/coach. I think he’d be perfect in that role.

No, I don’t see Warner coming to Cleveland. Hasselback or McNabb, maybe. No QBs will be taken in the early rounds of the draft, either. It makes no sense to keep DA with the signing bonus he is due. He was a late round pick originally and that is what he will fetch, I should think. It’ll all shake out very soon — but not soon enough in the news-starved mid-Winter blues period.
