Top 10 Plays of the Browns 2009 Season

#10                               Blake Costanzo recovers Parish fumble.

It was a cold windy day in Buffalo and the Cleveland Browns were looking for the first win under Coach Mangini. The game was tied at 3 and our Browns needed one of the best Special teams efforts in the History of the Browns to win this game. Costanzo recovered the football on the side of the field where I was sitting in Ralph Wilson Stadium and you could here a pin drop. Billy Cundiff 18 yard field goal gave the Browns there first win in 2009

#9                           Jennings 10 yard Touchdown Run against Pittsburgh

Quinn handed the ball off to Jennings he scooted outside to the right and Jennings got into the End zone, to give the Browns a 13-0 lead. The touchdown was scored at the opposite end of the Dog Pound and the place was rocking. That is when you started seeing the Steeler fans looking like somebody ran over there dog and I loved it. They thought they were taking over the Stadium and they were wrong. Our Cleveland Browns and the fans defended our Stadium and weren’t going to take it anymore. We knocked the Steelers out of the Playoffs.

#8                                   Cribbs 100 yard Return against the Chiefs

Cribbs went into the Records books with this one, he took it 100 yards against the Chiefs breaking three tackes. The Browns needed every point they could get against the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium on this day. Cribbs went into the Record books all by himself with his seventh return of his career. He was tied with five others entering the game.

#7                                   Shaun Rodgers Blockes Bengals Extra Point

The Browns gave the Bengals everything they could in this AFC North showdown. Carson Palmer and Ocho Cinco hooked up with 1:50 left in the game to tie the game at Cleveland Browns Stadium. All the Bengals had to do was make the extra point to take the lead over the Browns but Shaun Rodgers blocked the extra point and the Stadium erupted. Rodgers gave the Browns life despite the late touchdown. The Browns eventually lost in overtime to the Bengals who went on to win all six of their Divisional matchups.

#6                                   Jerome Harrison 71 yard TD run against the Chiefs

The longest run of Harrisons career was at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs and became the 5th Browns player to rush for over 200 yards in a game. Harrison ended up scoring three touchdowns in this game and with the help of Josh Cribbs helped the Browns win their second game in a row.

#5                                    Jerome Harrison 28 yard Touchdown run against the Chiefs

Harrisons third touchdown of the day helped seal the victory over the Chiefs. Harrison broke it to the right side and then came all the way back along the goal line and tiptoed into the end zone eating up time on the clock. This was Harrisons final run of the day that totaled 286 yards.

#4                                     Cribbs 37 yard third down run

Josh Cribbs was back at again against the Steelers with the Browns winning 6-0 and little time left in the first half, Cribbs took the ball out of the Wildcat broke numerous tacklers and took the ball 37 yards into Steeler territory. Cribbs got the ball and it turned into a punt return once he got into open space. Josh Cribbs made the Steelers Defense look like a bunch of School girls on that play.

#3                                     Browns D totaled 8 Sacks against Steelers

I couldn’t just pick one sack and also not include this in the top plays. The Browns Defense dominated the Steelers from the start of the game. The Browns dominated the Steeler offense and it was a beautiful sight at the Stadium. Mangini and his coaching staff really put together a great game plan to stop the Steeler offense. The Browns beat up Worthlessburger like the Squeelers have done to us to many times.

#2                                          Cribbs 103 yard Kickoff Return

Josh Cribbs returned his second TD of the day and the Browns needed it. The Chiefs were on a 21 point run and the Browns needed something to turn it around. Cribbs became the first Browns player ever to return two kickoffs for touchdowns and the second NFL player ever to return two hundred yard kicks  in the same game.(Ted Ginn did it earlier in the season for the Dolphins.) Cribbs again took the Kick right up the middle broke right and was nearly untouched for this 103 yard return.

#1                                           David Bowens Knocks down pass

It was a bitterly cold night at Cleveland Browns Stadium with the Steelers on the move, down by a touchdown, with less then two minutes in the game. It looked like Big Jen was going to give Browns fans another heart breaker, but on December 10th 2009 things changed for the better, David Bowens knocked down Worthlessburgers pass and the Browns took over on downs. The victory put the Steelers to bed and they didn’t qualify for the playoffs, the Browns beat the Steelers for the first time since 2003. The Stadium was a great place to be on December 10th. Browns Win!!!!!!! 13-6

Can we please start looking forward! Picking out great plays from an overall terrible season is of a loser mentality!

Personally I loved the article. Probably your best, Randy. We didn’t really have much to get excited about this year, so I don’t mind lookiing back; and I hate that the local media just dies when the season ends. It’s like baseball you can see or find someone talking about, basketball the same. but once the Browns are done, all the shows go away and I go through withdrawl.
