James Davis ready for action…..

“Personally, I thought it was kind of tough having to go through all the offseason workouts and then just going through the NFL Combine,” said Davis. “All that stuff kind of played out going into Training Camp. I was really tired going into Training Camp, but I was able to overcome a lot of obstacles as far as being tired every day. I just had to push myself whenever I did get the reps to get there and get my opportunity to play.

“It felt good,” he added about the run against Detroit. “I got a chance to get myself out there; people know who I am now. On that run, I saw nothing but daylight. I was kind of thinking if I was going to get caught by a DB or something like that, so I kind of held my head down and ran it.”"You get a lot of wisdom from Jamal,” said Davis. “A guy like Jamal Lewis, who’s been in the league ten years, I definitely learned a lot from him. Working out with him in the offseason, he showed me a lot of things on running the ball, reading where the holes are, just what to expect game-in and game-out and Jerome’s the same way. He’s a guy that kind of relaxed me when I’m uptight. I’m trying to play the game and he’s the guy who’ll kind of make jokes and say, ‘Hey, just relax. You’ve been playing this game your whole life.’ You get a lot of insights from those guys.”

“The rehab process went really (well),” Davis said. “Right now, I made this my hardest offseason that I ever had because I’m making a comeback. I’m trying to get as strong as possible, stronger than I’ve ever been before. I know it’s going to take a lot of work this offseason to get there and that’s what I’m doing right now, working as hard as I can. Right now, I’m 100 percent, but I’m only getting stronger.”"I’m going to come in and work like I did as a rookie,” Davis said. “All those opportunities I get to get in there, I’m going to play like I’m a rookie. I’m out there trying to get a job, so that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Unless we sign a big name/performer at RB I think the backfield rotation of Harrison/Davis/Hillis and then Vickers, is going to be solid. Will it be the best rushing attack in the league? Probably not, but these guys are all hard workers and could provide an attack that defenses will have to spend late nights planning for, which could in turn open up more chances throwing the ball. Say what you will about why we couldn’t move the ball, the reason was with no running game (until late in the season) all the defense had to do was focus on getting to the quarterback and they could play man coverage on the outside.

And the more reports I read about Colt McCoy he starts to sound more and more like the quarterback of the future, pertaining to the kind of player that Holmgren envisions in that role.

I don’t see Cleveland burning an early draft choice on a RB. Defense – Defense – QB – WR – Defense – OL – Defense – Defense

I agree with you on your selections for the most part. I think the second round pick could also be used for a QB if the right one is available

I think there are going to be some real surprises at picks as they are not selected as the experts think. It might make it hard to stick to their projections when defensive players drop a couple and are available, so look for them packaging their picks to move up and get the guys they are projecting after that and pick mostly all defense.

I would think so. The draft is a dynamic, not static, process. As some players drop, I would expect Cleveland to make some moves that are not on the radar screen right now. Some of this may depend on what other teams may be willing to give up to get one of Cleveland’s spots — although I don’t think that anybody wants the NO. 7 pick.
