Draft Notes on Joe Haden

Defensive back Joe Haden is the 11th player drafted by Cleveland from the University of Florida. He is the first Gator selected by the Browns since linebacker Andra Davis was picked in the fifth round of the 2002 draft. Haden joins linebacker Clifford Charlton (1988) and defensive lineman Gerard Warren (2001) as the only players from the University of Florida selected by Cleveland in the first round.

Haden is the first defensive back picked by the Browns in the first round since Antonio Langham was selected ninth overall in the 1994 draft. Haden is the 10th defensive back tabbed by Cleveland in the first round joining Langham, Eric Turner (1991), Don Rogers (1984), Hanford Dixon (1981), Thom Darden (1972), Clarence Scott (1971), Jim Shofner (1958), Bert Rechichar (1952) and Kenny Konz (1951).

Haden is the oldest of five brothers whose names all begin with the letter J (Josh, Jordan, Jacob and Jonathon). Joe was the first college football player in his family as two of his younger brothers are now playing collegiately. Josh is currently a running back at Boston College, while Jordan enrolled this past January to play football at Florida.

He looks like he weighs 150 pounds soak and wet. I just hope he doesn’t get manhandled.

Hopefully he has a better Browns career than those other first rounders we drafted from U of F!
