Browns take away Executive adviser title from Browns great Jim Brown….

The Cleveland Browns have taken away Jim Browns title with the team. Holmgren and Jim Brown met earlier this week and the end result is Jim Brown will not have the same role as he has had in years past with the team. “He’s still part of the Browns family,” Gulkis said. “He’s the greatest running back of all time. He’ll talk with Randy (Browns owner Randy Lerner), Mike and Eric (head coach Eric Mangini) and the players like he has in the past. He spoke at the rookie minicamp. His role hasn’t really changed.” Gulkis is the teams spokesman and has confirmed Brown has not been fired but won’t have as big as role as before.  I have much respect for the great Jim Brown but he made some questionable comments to a Baltimore Radio Station about Lebron James and his future last week. Sorry but I can’t be angry at the fans for having expectations for the person who is called the “King” and “Chosen One.” Here is what he said to the radio station “You know, it’s so unfortunate that a man that’s got so much would feel so bad right now because of what he couldn’t do,” Brown said. “I think he’s being treated unfairly. I think the expectations were too high, and I don’t think he’s gonna stay in Cleveland because of it. I think as one man, there’s only so much you can do, and for people to analyze you and to basically say humiliating things about you, when you’ve given all those things through the years to that franchise, I think it’s an atrocity.”

Jim Brown as a player was awesome. Jim Brown as a person is nobody. Hey old man Brown? NE Ohio and Cleveland have given LeBron everything. I mean everything. For you to sit and say we deserve him leaving is nuts. LeBron has shown his dedication and appreciation to the city and his fans by not signing or giving any sign that he will stay. Another player just after the money? We’ve seen it all before in NE Ohio. Perasonally, I don’t listen to a word Brown says or give a damn. Once you beat up a woman, you lose alot of respect. Yes Mr Brown, you were the greatest on the field, but off the field you suck. You’re in the present now, you need to leave your past behind. You’re not a god anymore.

While I agree with your assesment of Mr. Brown being wrong about Mr. James and the reason he would leave, I disagree with you on your opening assesment that the ‘old man’ has done nothing or is nothing as a person.
He has done far more for people, black and white and Latino, in efforts to promote peace, unity, good will, individual responsibility, etc., than any other athelete i’m aware of. It just goes to show that to be human is to be flawed, and we all can be wrong about things.
