Browns defensive back Gerard Lawson plead no contest to driving under the influence Tuesday in Cleveland Municipal Court after an hit-skip accident in the Warehouse District Aug. 8. There were no injuries. Three other charges — failure to control his vehicle, driving away from the accident without stopping and not wearing a seat belt — were dropped. Lawson, 25, of North Las Vegas, Nev., was sentenced to one year of probation, 72 hours of an alternative to jail program, and must complete 20 hours of community work service by the end of October. Lawson also had his license suspended for six months, has to attend two MADD meetings and pay a $500 fine.
