LB Jackson says he hopes to be back for the opener

LB D’Qwell Jackson reported Thursday that his rehab is on schedule. He’s been cleared to lift weights and hopes to return as early as the regular season opener. He added that there’s “no chance” he will be placed on IR. Jackson’s 2009 season was cut short after he was injured in the sixth game of the season against Pittsburgh.

Jackson had a team high 57 tackles when he hurt his shoulder and Browns’ coach Eric Mangini said of Jackson at the time, “It’s disappointing any time you lose a player for the season, and this is especially true with someone like D’Qwell, who has proven to be an outstanding leader for us both on and off the field.”

Hopefully, he will make it through the season without injury. I am not optimistic, though; 2 pec injuries in two years? Does not bode well, I fear.
