Mangini expresses confidence in Jerome Harrison

Head coach Eric Mangini said that he expects Jerome Harrison to seize the opportunity to be the Browns’ No. 1 running back, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot.

Take this news for what it’s worth, though there is something to be said about having the confidence of your head coach. With Montario Hardesty out for the season, Harrison is the Browns’ clear-cut top back, though Peyton Hillis and James Davis could figure into the mix in some fashion as well.

Like this is news. Of course, Jerome’s the man — and only partly because of the way things developed. He has also earned the right to have this opportunity. Let’s see what he can do — and James Davis, too. We may have the luxury of several very strong RBs that can spell each other and prolong not only their seasons but their playing careers in the process.
