Browns ink OL Vallos and DB Roberson

The Browns were awarded offensive lineman Steve Vallos off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and signed defensive back Derrick Roberson, the team announced today. In addition the team waived offensive lineman Billy Yates and linebacker David Veikune.

Vallos was originally signed selected by Seattle in the seventh round (232nd overall) of the 2007 draft. After spending the 2007 season the practice squad, Vallos has appeared in all 16 games each of the past two years. He earned three starts last year with two at center and one at left guard. Vallos set the Wake Forest University (2003-06) record for most career starts with 48. Born December 28, 1983, the 6-3, 310-pounder is a native of Boardman, Ohio where he attended Boardman High School.

Roberson originally signed an undrafted free agent with Houston on May 10, 2007. Roberson spent time on the practice squad’s of Houston, Minnesota and Tampa Bay. He made his NFL debut with the Buccaneers last season, appearing in six games, recording three tackles and three passes defensed. He was waived by Tampa Bay on September 4, 2010. Roberson appeared in 40 games with 19 starts while at Rutgers University (2003-06). Born March 12, 1985, the 5-10, 180-pounder is a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he attended Northeast High School.

Vallos will wear jersey number 68, while Roberson will be in 22.
