Cleveland Browns Jerseys

A few Questions for the enemy;Steelersgab Editor Matt Loede…

1. What will the reaction be to Ben Roethlisburger on Sunday?
It’ll be positive.  Steeler fans have moved on already, and the home fans are happy overall that he’s back.  Sure there will always be some that will harbor ill will against him for what he did, and they have every right to do that.  Bottom line though is the Steelers don’t win rings without him, and they will be a much better team with him, so the fans are excited to see him back, and he seems to be ready to go for a big game Sunday vs a team that he is 10-1 against.
2. What is one disadvantage the Steelers have on Sunday?
In the past when Ben has come back from injury, he has had bad games.  Of course this isn’t an injury, but that has to be a fear of him coming out and being a little too pumped up and not being sharp allowing the Browns to be in the game.  Same for the defense, which while they are licking their chops at the thought of playing a rookie QB, can’t be too overzelous and not do the little things like making tackles and forcing things on both sides of the ball.
3. What if the Browns do beat the Steelers on Sunday, what would be the reaction in Pittsburgh? Could that alone cause a Quarterback controversy?
It would depend on how they lose the game.  If the defense allows Colt to have a huge game, or the special teams give up two kickoff or punt returns for scores, that wouldn’t have much to do with Ben.  But if Ben comes out and goes 10-for-35 with two picks and no TD’s, then I guess you will hear some people lament for Charlie Batch or Byron Leftwich, but again, it would take an awful lot for a team that has put $100 million dollars into their franchise QB to pull him.
4. The Browns running game has been effective so far this season, how will the Steelers Defense stop it?
Gang tackling, and making sure to stay in their gaps.  They are the #1 team in the league against the run for a reason, as they haven’t allowed a rush over 12 yards the whole season.  They don’t miss many tackles, and make sure that ballcarriers feel pain everytime they rush the football.  The Steelers are a defense that feeds on making plays, and I think they will do what they do best, hit people that have the ball, and continue to force 2nd and 3rd and longs.
5. What is your prediction for Sunday’s game?
It’s asking an awful lot for a rookie QB to come into Pittsburgh against an upset Steelers D that blew a late lead to the Ravens two weeks ago.  The Steelers haven’t lost to the Browns in quite a long time in Pittsburgh, and while I can see Roethlisberger having some early issues throwing the ball, they have Rashard Mendenhall and a defense that has already shown they don’t need much in the pass game to pull out wins.  Steelers win this one with realtive ease.  Pittsburgh 35 Browns 3
