The Browns have waived running back Clifton Smith, who was recently signed to return kickoffs when Joshua Cribbs was hurt. The team also promoted wide receiver Jordan Norwood to the 53-man active roster, released offensive lineman John Malecki from the practice squad and signed offensive lineman Phil Trautwein and wide receiver Rod Windsor to the practice squad. Norwood was signed by Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He was waived and spent 13 weeks on Philadelphia’s practice squad last year. He was re-signed by the Browns on Sept. 6, and has spent 11 weeks on the practice squad.
