ESPN: Browns Should Take a Chance on Pryor

James Walker of ESPN talks about the Browns and former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pyror, and how Cleveland should think long and hard about taking a chance on Pryor in the supplemental draft.

The Browns have draft picks to spare in 2012. Why not grab Pryor now and begin teaching him the nuances of the NFL game?

In Cleveland, Pryor would work with two quarterback gurus — Browns president Mike Holmgren and head coach Pat Shurmur. The pair developed NFL quarterbacks such as Brett Favre, Matt Hasselbeck, Donovan McNabb and Sam Bradford, just to name a few. Like many observers, I have doubts about Pryor at quarterback in the NFL. But I like his chances a lot better working with Holmgren and Shurmur.

At best, Pryor turns out to be a viable starting quarterback in the NFL. Otherwise, Pryor could try his talents at wide receiver. Oh, by the way, the Browns need help there, too. They have arguably the league’s worst group of receivers.

As the Browns fill out their roster with solid players, they have looked for talented players with little or no personality disorders (bad personal habits). This year’s draft had a couple of players with questionable actions, but neither appear to be lifestyle problems.

Pryor has a questionable lifestyle issue that has been semi-visible since his high school days during OSU’s recruiting process. The fact that his lifestyle brought about serious damage to the entire football program at OSU should be reason enough to avoid him at any draft round.

It doesn’t matter if he has talent. A cancer in the locker room will destroy team unity and mess with other talented players’ focus. If the Browns draft him, I’ll quote a fine robot, “Danger Will Robinson! Warning! Warning!”

absolutely right you are. pryor not a real q b antway. a glorified running back or tight end at best. holmgren please dont let this mistake happen.

This would be another blunder in the ever growing list of Browns mistakes. Pryor is not an NFL QB. He should switch to Tight End but won’t so, even if he can get a look by some NFL team, it will be short lived.
